Hi Everyone who’s coming for our reception! ¶
We’ve gotten some questions recently about what the cabins are like and what you should bring, etc, and so it seems we’re a little past time to get you some more camp-related information (oops!)
So here are some details about the camp and cabins: ¶
Camp is located at 14563 YMCA Ln, Lake Park, MN 56554 on the shores of Big Cormorant Lake, MN.
- We’ll provide a map of the grounds when you get here so you know where things are, don’t worry!
- There’s a pretty big parking lot, so parking shouldn’t be an issue, but it’s a little bit of a walk from the lot to the cabins and recreation buildings
- There are some areas at camp that will be off limits, so please be mindful of these areas
- They are camp-y camp bathrooms:
- There’s a big community bathroom building (separated into boys and girls sides) located between the cabins and the other recreational buildings/areas, sort of close to the cabins
- There are a few single-stall bathrooms in other buildings around the grounds too
- The bathroom building has both toilet stalls and shower stalls
- The water pressure isn’t awesome
- We recommend bringing some flip flops or sandals for the showers
PACK LIST (Things we recommend bringing with you): ¶
- Flashlight or headlamp - it gets dark at night and the grounds are only so well lit
- Sun & bug protection - Sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, bug spray
- Swimsuit (or at least something you can get wet in)
- Flip flops or sandals for beach and/or showers
- Beach stuff - blankets, umbrellas, sand toys
- Beach towels
- Layers - especially in early June, we could still have spring rain/cool temps, or summer heat and sun!! It also definitely gets cooler at night once the sun goes down. You may want hoodies, flannels, or jackets at that point too
- Play clothes - stuff you can get dirty in
- Plastic bag for dirty or wet clothes and towels
- Fancy clothes if you are staying over and/or intend to dress up Saturday night
- Water bottle (we’ll have some water bottles around, but we’d love it if you brought your own to cut down on trash/recycling)
- Cell phone charger (I always forget this one, but I hope you don’t!)
- Any other extra stuff to entertain yourself:
- Books
- Lawn or board games
- Balls - basketball, soccer ball, wiffle ball, etc
- Floaties (there are some pool noodles at camp, but feel free to bring your own floaties if you like)
DON’T BRING: ¶
- Illegal Drugs (Seriously. Drugs will get us all kicked out and that would be such a bummer!)
- Smoking / smoking accessories - smoking is not allowed at YMCA
- Weapons (just please don’t)
- Valuables (laptops, etc) or anything you’d prefer to protect/lock up - there are no good places to lock stuff up at camp, and it’s just easier to leave that stuff behind (or maybe in your car at least)
- Animals (sorry, no pets allowed)
